Angry Birds
Rhett Allain's Dot Physics post The Physics of Angry Birds
Your task
Measure the acceleration due to gravity in the Angry Birds world. Using g as a calibration, determine the height of the slingshot in meters.
- Instructions
- 1. Set the scale using a Calibration Stick and the height of the slingshot. Set the value of the height of the slingshot to 1.
- 2. Uncheck Fixed Origin, Fixed Angle, and Fixed Scale.
- 3. Create a new coordinate pair.
- 4. In each frame, adjust the coordinate pair so that it is fixed on stationary points.
- 5. Mark the angry bird while it is in the air.
- 6. Measure the y-acceleration of the bird in units of "slingshots per second squared".
- 7. Assuming that the y-acceleration has a magnitude of 10 m/s2, calculate the height of the slingshot in meters.
- 8. Measure the diameter of the bird and calculate its diameter in meters.
