Matter & Interactions at High Point University

Matter and Interactions is a textbook developed by Ruth
Chabay and Bruce Sherwood that is the most innovative and exciting
introductory, calculus-based physics book that I've ever seen. It
has completely renewed my enthusiasm for teaching introductory physics.
Using Matter and Interactions in my course, I strive to
teach students to:
- understand a few fundamental principles that can be used to
model a wide range of phenomena
- model complex systems by making appropriate assumptions and
simplications and applying fundamental principles
- use computational tools, such as computer programming, to solve
problems that cannot be easily solved analytically
